Pediatric dentists have long sought to provide dental care to their young and disabled patients in a manner which will promote excellence in quality of care and concurrently induce a positive attitude in the patient toward dental treatment. Behavior management techniques have allowed most children to receive treatment in the dental office with minimal discomfort and without expressed fear. Sedation has provided others with the ability to accept treatment.
However, some children and developmentally disabled patients require general anesthesia to receive comprehensive dental care in a safe and humane fashion. We can provide the administration of general anesthesia with a properly trained dental anesthesiologist in our office. We are responsible for establishing a safe environment that complies with Arizona state rules and regulations, as well as the Clinical Guidelines on the the use of Minimal, Moderate, and Deep Sedation for the protection of the patient.
When you and your child present in our office with a patient whom might be a candidate for sedation, we as a team will sit down and discuss our options with you. We want you to feel as comfortable with your decision as possible. We will discuss with you all alternatives. We have many options of sedation, from Nitrous Oxide, to liquid cocktails, to IV in office sedation to Hospital Dentistry. Your child's safety and comfort are our main concern. We will try to again establish a long term relationship that will help your child keep a bright smile.
